Ihigaini Christians were under Ichagaki Parish. But in 1965 when the lands were being divided, the late Joakim Gitau was given money by Fr. Morter to buy ½ Acre land for the church in 9th November 1965. He then talked with the land officials and was given another Acre in 18th November 1965.
The Christians elected the Church committee, the chairman being George Mbogo and Joakim Gitau being the Secretary. At this time Christians were being worshipping in school which was started by teacher Joakim Gitau in 1932.
They started communal work whereby Women started carrying stones with their back from Mahigaini ma Mbugua and men were digging the foundation.
The church was opened in 30th November 1986 by Bishop Peter Kairu who was in Murang’a Diocese then. The Christians also bought another land for Iregi local church. Currently they are constructing Curch hall.
