Maragua Ridge Local Church

church event During the time when people were being given the lands by the government at Maragua District in 1962. The Catholic Christians came together and started praying in one of the white people house (Muthungu) and one day they came with an idea of having their own church and from there they elected the committee who were in charge of searching for a piece of land for the church construction.
They got the land though the help of fr. Marrner who was fr. In charge of Murang’a Parish and Bishop Gatimu who was the bishop of Nyeri Diocese assisted them with the money for the land.
After church construction they had the first baptism in 30/6/1963 then the Bishop Celebrated the first Mass whereby he conducted 4 marriage sacraments.
The Christians increased in number because Gituamba and Muchagara was under Maragua Ridge. But later they have moved and become independent, now they are local church on their own. The Christians started constructing big church due to the increase of Christians, i.e. they started when they were 30 but now they are 120 Christians.
